The WPA also announced as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic the 2020 Charity Ball, originally scheduled for April 25 has been cancelled. "Public health and safety is paramount during this time and it is critical people employ social distancing practices in the short-term," said Sabourin. "We have supported the Children’s Hospital Foundation of Manitoba for 34 years and our members will continue to support children’s health in Manitoba. We know the COVID-19 crisis will hamper CHFM fundraising efforts and encourage people to make a generous donation by visiting goodbear.ca/wpa"
"The Children’s Hospital Foundation is so thankful for the ongoing support of all members of the Winnipeg Police Association," said Grande. "Especially at this time, we must ensure the children in our communities continue to have the Children’s Hospital to rely on, with the equipment and services to help any child through injury or illness."
Next year, the 96 th Annual WPA Charity Ball will take place Saturday, April 24, 2021 at Canad Inns Polo Park and is the longest running annual charity function of its kind in North America.
