WINNIPEG, MB: Maurice (Moe) Sabourin, President, Winnipeg Police Association (WPA), is pleased to announce the launch of the second Winnipeg Police Association 50/50 raffle for the Children’s Hospital Foundation of Manitoba (CHFM). The inaugural 50/50 in 2021 raised $92, 565 as a result of the winner – the Winnipeg Police Credit Union – donating their winnings ($46,282.50) back to the Children’s Hospital Foundation of Manitoba.
“The COVID-19 pandemic resulted in the cancellation of our annual Charity Ball, so we opted to run a 50/50 raffle instead,” said Sabourin. “We teamed up with FundingChange.ca, acquired a raffle licence and developed a marketing plan. Our good friend Brody Jackson from QX 104 FM agreed to be the celebrity spokesperson for the campaign and Manitobans stepped up to buy tickets,” he added. “We expect this year’s 50/50 will be just as successful and the funds are much needed by the CHFM as the pandemic negatively affected their fundraising initiatives.”
Raffle tickets are available online by visiting www.wpa5050.ca. Single tickets are only $5, with multiple tickets available for purchase in increments of three, 10, 50 and 100. The draw date is June 29, 2022, 9:00 AM.
The Winnipeg Police Association has supported the Children’s Hospital Foundation of Manitoba for over 35 years through the annual WPA Charity Ball. Next year, the 96th Annual WPA Charity Ball will take place Saturday, April 29, 2023 at Canad Inns Polo Park and is the longest running annual charity function of its kind in North America.
